11th Winchester Scout Group
Welcome to the 11th Winchester Scout Group

Welcome to the 11th Winchester Scout Group. We are a lively flourishing group with one section each of Beavers and Scouts and two cub packs (we are planning to expand to two of each of the sections).

If you are interested in a particular section (Beavers, Cubs or Scouts), click on the menu above to see news and information about that section. On the front page here we will display information about the group itself, plus any news or information that the sections are particularly proud of and want to tell the world about.

If you are interested in joining the group please use the "Contact Us" menu option and send a message to our membership secretary (please don't approach the section leaders themselves, as all new membership requests are handled by the membership secretary).

On any page you look at, there's a chance that if you were logged into the website you'd see quite a bit more information; that's because to look after the young people in our care we need to be careful about who gets to know what. If you don't have a login id, or have forgotten yours, please use the contacts page to email the webmaster.

Chinese New Year

This year Chinese New Year fell on Feb 14th (also Valentines day) and the Beavers held a themed meeting. Every year is associated with an animal and this year is the year of the Tiger.

First we learnt about the legend of how the animals were chosen by the emperor for each year and then we did a Chinese dragon dance.

This kept everyone laughing for quite a while. Lastly we sampled some Chinese food, spring rolls and prawn crackers.

HMS Belfast Weekend

Scouts from Winchester spent the weekend in London, sleeping on HMS Belfast and using public transport to visit and photograph every detail from the Monopoly Board

What a fantastic, but tiring, weekend.  32 scouts and 7 leaders travelled up to London by train, dumped kit on HMS Belfast and immediately set about making the most of our London travel passes to visit features on the monopoly board. We divided into 3 teams, each with certain monopoly board properties that they must visit in order to cover the board completely. Teams could gain bonus points by visiting extra properties from the other teams' lists.
