Welcome to the 11th Winchester Scout Group. We are a lively flourishing group with one section each of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.
If you are interested in a particular section (Beavers, Cubs or Scouts), click on the menu above to see news and information about that section. On the front page here we will display information about the group itself, plus any news or information that the sections are particularly proud of and want to tell the world about.
If you are interested in joining the group please use the "Contact Us" menu option and send a message to our membership secretary (please don't approach the section leaders themselves, as all new membership requests are handled by the membership secretary).
On any page you look at, there's a chance that if you were logged into the website you'd see quite a bit more information; that's because to look after the young people in our care we need to be careful about who gets to know what. If you don't have a login id, or have forgotten yours, please use the contacts page to email the webmaster.
Beaver Sleepover at the Log Cabin
Written by Giles Gooding
Friday, 27 March 2009 21:58
The first sleepover since Beavers restarted in 2007 took place March 21st to March 22nd. 17 Beavers gained their nights away badge when they attended the 'Knights of the Round Table' themed event.
We did lots of knight related activities and games and also had an outing to the Great Hall where we learned about the real table itself.
Did you know?
"The Round Table in the Great Hall was commissioned by Edward I and later painted by Henry VIII. The picture of King Arthur actually has the face of Henry VIII"
It was a lot of fun but considering it was a sleepover not a lot of sleep was had!

Gloriously Sunny Winter Camp
Written by Kelvin Goodson

For the first time since I have been going to Winter camp there was no mud bath! The sun came out, and all of our 11 scouts from the 11th that camped had a good time. Click on the photo's below to see what we did. The downside of such sunny days was the clear nights were very cold, so at least there was some adversity to talk about afterwards.

Jack Stebbing won the under 9.5s with straight victories (two with fools mate ie just 4 moves)
Theo Goddard was a star because he agreed to compete in the over 9.5s even though he is only 9, so that Jack could take his slot. He won all but one of his games which he drew.
Jenny Robinson was organiser and successful team captain for the 11th.
The photos show the boys collecting their Pawn trophies.
They now go through to the Hampshire final on March 15th in Basingstoke.

Paultons Park - Christmas Wonderland
Written by Giles Gooding

On Sat 15th November 17 Beavers from our colony joined over 3000 Beavers for the annual County organised event at Paultons Park.
We had a full day going on a lot of rides including the Stinger, Astro Glider, Wave Runner and the Cobra (well some of us went on it). The day finished with a visit to Santa's Christmas Wonderland where we saw the big man himself!
